THE MECCANUITY CHALLENGE 2012

The Meccano-Curling-Bowls Championships

To celebrate the Olympic Games and their historic connection to Shropshire, The Telford and Ironbridge Meccano Society presents this new sporting challenge for Meccano enthusiasts.

1.      Devise and build a small self-propelled vehicle to travel about 10-12 feet on our arena floor, using recognised Meccano parts. See the plan below.

2.      Motive power may be clockwork or electric, self-contained, with no remote control.

3.      The vehicle dimensions may not be greater than 7½" x 5½".  Height is not restricted.

4.      The vehicle must include a vertical pointer, at the front, for measuring purposes e.g. a small rod.

5.      Elimination rounds will be held, depending on the number of entries.

6.      The objective is for the vehicle to finish the round, intact, with its pointer as close as possible to the marked target, measured after any collisions. Collisions are legal!

7.      There will be prizes for junior and senior winners. Juniors are 14 years and under. Seniors are more than 15 years old on Sunday 6th May 2012

8.      Proxy entries are welcome. Have fun!
