| A flea can jump over fifty times its body length. But what if it was made of Meccano? TIMS invites you to help solve this conundrum by taking part in our latest challenge. Build a Meccano jumping flea to out-jump all others! Here are the rules: - The flea shall be made from recognized Meccano parts or their replicas.
- The flea-builder shall accompany his or her flea for private scrutinizing and safety checking before competing on Sunday 2nd May 2010.
- Practice jumps may be taken in the arena on Saturday afternoon.
- The scrutineer may exclude fleas that appear too dangerous for public performance!
- The flea shall jump from our launch pad, inclined at 30 degrees, released by a cord-pull mechanism, as shown below.
- The whole flea must leave the launch pad and remain intact upon landing.
- The winning flea will have jumped the greatest airborne horizontal distance.
- There will be prizes for junior and senior winners. Juniors are 14 years and under. Seniors are 15 years and over on Sunday 2nd May 2010.
- Have Fun!
